Taking on the tough issues since 1972
Since 1972, you have been challenging Keep Sedona Beautiful to preserve the wonder of this awesome place we call home and to take on the tough issues facing our community. That’s why today~
- there are no billboards in Sedona
- over 50 miles of roadways are litter free thanks to the Litter Lifters
- most buildings are constructed in harmony with the environment
- a city and county lighting ordinance protects our starry night skies from light pollution
- a covered load ordinance reduces flying debris from roadways
- over 600 acres of private land have been purchased and returned to the Forest Service for open space
- new installations of wood-burning fireplaces are prohibited to protect our air quality
That’s why Keep Sedona Beautiful has been honored by the Governor’s office four times for outstanding service.
2010 Challenge: Hwy 89A Safety Solutions
This year in particular, Keep Sedona Beautiful has been challenged to take unusually strong stands on preserving and protecting what is so special about Sedona’s natural environment. One of KSB’s priorities during 2008 and 2009 has been to prevent our amazing night skies from being destroyed by continuous roadway lighting; instead, we promoted real safety solutions on 89A in West Sedona. On your behalf and with your help, KSB will continue to demand that ADOT implement effective 89A safety improvements that are consistent with our unique natural environment and not compromise one of our greatest natural resources and economic assets in Sedona, the starry night skies.
2010 Opportunity: National Scenic Area Designation
With your continuing support, and with a new CD 1 Congressional representative in Washington, Keep Sedona Beautiful will aggressively pursue a National Scenic Area Designation by Act of Congress to permanently protect 160,000 acres of National Forest lands in the greater Sedona area from private land trades for development.
Keep Sedona Beautiful will relentlessly seek protection for the special natural features of Sedona that first attracted us and that keeps us here.Community Programs
Plus, Keep Sedona Beautiful will continue to offer outstanding educational and community programs:
- Annual Awards of Excellence
- Annual Student Litter Prevention Poster Contest
- Monthly Speaker Series
- Annual Native Plant Workshop
- Environmental Issues Workshops
- Capture the Wonder Photo Contest
Your Future Support is Needed and Appreciated

Your generous financial contribution is needed now more than ever, as the inventory of land available for development shrinks and the demand for forest land trades and more intensive land use increases. We must protect our land.
